A wine dedicated to the generations of men who have worked on this
resilient land. Majere (from the Latin major, or superior) is not
only the name of the vineyard in which this wine is produced, but
also the symbol of the marvellous work of past generations, the cyclopean
terraces surrounding the Adige Valley.
On these terraces a variety , known locally as "casetta"
("little house"), has been cultivated for more than four
hundred years. This vineyard is situated 200 metres above sea level
and vines are more than sixty years old. The calcareous-rocky soil
and its splendid Southwest exposure impart character and elegance
to this wine.
Production is around 3 metric tons per acre. Majere is born from a,
traditional and wise, marriage of two varieties: Casetta 70%, Cabernet
Sauvignon 30%. This wine has spiced scents over vanilla. These scents,
with ageing, evolve to suggest leather, chocolate and minerals. Its
taste is full-bodied, slightly acidulous. It has a well-balanced and
elegant tannin. It is the wine that best expresses its origin, the
resilience of the land, the beauty of this place, the sun's warmth,
and the strength of this marvellous mountainside.
It is a wine that can well endure more than 10 years ageing.
