Marzemino was introduced to the Vallagarina during the Venetian domination,
sometime before the end of the Fifteenth Century. The people of Santa
Margherita have always cultivated Marzemino grapes together with mulberry.
Only since the 1950's has it been planted in rows like other varietals.
In addition to Marzemino, La Cadalora's Sanvalentino vineyard is also
planted in an important local variety, Lagrein. This grape gives more
body and character to the wine.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, and continues in
small French-oak barrels. This wine has floral scents recalling sweet
violet. Its taste is dry, moderately acidic, full-bodied, velvety
smooth.
A floral and liquorice taste is very persistent.
It is a wine that expresses its best when it is young. It can well
endure 3-4 years ageing.
